Athos – The Holy Mountain 12224
Mount Athos or the Holy Mountain is one of the three peninsulas ending up the large Khalkidhiki Peninsula. It lies to the east of Kassandra and Sithonia, the other two peninsulas; it has a length of fifty-five kilometres and a breadth that varies between seven and ten kilometres. The peninsula is oriented from NW to SE and it is mostly mountainous. The Mountain’s height gradually increases from 510 meters to 2033 meters (Athon peak).
