Serving „The unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”- 15 years of patriarchal activity of His Beatitude Father Daniel of Romania 12339

In the year of our Lord 2021, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, passed the age threshold of 70 years. In addition to the prayer of thanksgiving raised to the Almighty God, there were words of congratulations from the Primates of the sister Orthodox Churches, the members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, State authorities, the leadership of the Romanian Academy, the high representatives of religious communities in the country and abroad.

The joy of honouring the Primate of our Church was received as a celebration of the whole community of faith. For when the Head is crowned, the whole body is honouredThe anniversary volume, with its biblically inspired title, „The Lord has appointed a teacher for every nation”, contains in its pages words and images that speak eloquently of that jubilee moment.

This autumn marks the 15th anniversary of the enthronement of the sixth Patriarch of Romania (30 September 2007), during which time the ship of the Romanian Orthodox Church has sailed on calm and deep waters, but has also gone through stormy times, in which unexpected crises or predictable changes have brought difficult trials into the lives of people and society. With strong faith and wise thought, without sudden moves, the leader of the ship found the most suitable ways and instilled in everyone the courage that comes from prayer and love of God.

Thus, these 15 years bear witness to a fruitful activity, visible in deeds and foundations: in Bucharest (where the National Cathedral now stands), in many Romanian Orthodox communities in the country and in other regions of the world. And, along with them, the joy of grace working in people’s souls through the fruitfulness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
